CALGARY, Alta. – A trucker involved in a fatal crash on Macleod Trail two years ago has been acquitted of criminal negligence and dangerous driving.

Justice Patricia Rowbotham concluded that there was no way to tell what color the traffic light was when Patrick Fritzsche entered the intersection on Oct. 15, 1998, since witnesses disagreed whether or not the light was yellow or red when his truck hit Ronald Clare’s southbound Lexus.

Clare, 56, was killed instantly. n
