TruckWeight introduces new wireless scales

HALIFAX, N.S. – TruckWeight has introduced a new wireless scale system designed for trucks, tractors and trailers with air suspensions.

Smart Scale features a number of enhancements designed to provide better accuracy, ease-of-installation, affordability and return on investment, the company reports. The system uses sensors to measure temperature and pressure changes in a truck or trailer’s air suspension. It then wirelessly communicates the data to a handheld receiver via a low-powered radio transmitter.

The result is an axle weight and gross vehicle weight calculation that’s within 0.3 per cent of the actual weight, TruckWeight insists.

“Accuracy equates to improved bottom line,” said Peter Panagapko, president of TruckWeight. “Smart Scale gives you the ability to monitor your payload, making it even easier to be productive and profitable. The wireless reader allows you to take a measurement where it’s convenient and safe, whether that’s in the truck cab or the loading machine.”

One of the system’s new features is an automated rapid response mode which provides one weight measurement every three seconds over a 15-minute span while the trailer’s being loaded. The company says this feature meets the needs of pit and quarry operators as well as refuse haulers and other truckers who require fast, frequent readings while loading.
