WAYNE, Penn. – GE Equipment Services says its VeriWise trailer tracking system can now be installed on reefer units, as well as dry vans.

Fleets that haul temperature-sensitive cargo such as produce, dairy and meat products can now track their trailers anywhere in North America. GE VeriWise also alerts fleet owners to door openings, cargo status etc.

“Talking face-to-face with customers about their needs continues to guide the timing in which we introduce new features for VeriWise,” said Thomas Konditi, general manager of GE’s Asset Intelligence business, based in Barrington, Ill. “At the same time we’re able to offer a broad set of trailer leasing and maintenance solutions, easily available through the 100-branch network operated by GE’s Trailer Fleet Services unit.”

VeriWise is already able to work with Thermo-King equipped refrigerated trailers and it will be expanded to other lines soon, the company says. New options include geo-fencing capabilities, allowing the placement of virtual geographic boundaries around specific addresses. If the trailer strays outside that assigned boundary, a fleet owner will be notified via an e-mail or phone text message.

GE says the new capabilities provide enhanced cargo security and operational flexibility while giving customers the comfort of knowing where their shipment is.
