Western Star intros extreme duty suspension

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Western Star Trucks introduced its proprietary extreme duty six-rod suspension at CONEXPO.

Now available for order on the Western Star 6900 XD, the suspension is spec’d for rugged applications such as off-road mining, logging, and oilfield.

“With available weight ratings from 85,000 to 110,000 pounds, our extreme duty six rod suspension offers outstanding strength and a smooth and quiet ride,” said Jim Crowcroft, product marketing manager for Western Star Trucks.

“We are very pleased to meet the needs of the severe-duty market with a product that will get the toughest jobs done and keep the driver comfortable.”

Western Star’s new suspension is now offered with 85,000- to 110,000-lb. weight ratings, with AxleTech International SPRC 1927 tandem axles and 68-inch axle spacing.

Western Star also has plans to offer the suspension with an 85,000-lb. weight rating with AxleTech SPRC 1735 tandem axles and 60-inch axle spacing; and a 72,000-pound weight rating with Sisu FR2P-32 tandem axle and 60-inch axle spacing.
