Dana Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Systems Division has introduced a new tag axle specifically designed for 6 x 2 vehicle configurations requiring reduced weight in a variety of heavy-duty truck applications. Weighing in at only 255 lbs., the Dana Spicer tag axle features the same external geometry as a standard drive axle to enable the use of conventional torque rod brackets and axle seats that are compatible with air-ride suspension systems. This is achieved without adding the complexity, cost and weight associated with common tag axle configurations. The new tag axle provides operators with one of the lightest 6 x 2 packages in the commercial vehicle industry when specified with a Dana Spicer 23,000 lbs., or 21,000 GAWR single-reduction, single-drive axle. Designated as axle model number R22BS and rated up to 22,000 lbs., the tag axle housing profile and box size are common with the popular Dana Spicer DS404 tandem drive axle for 6 x 4 configurations. The R22BS also includes standard “R” series spindles, which are compatible with standard truck wheel-ends or the Dana Spicer LMSTM hubs to help ensure consistent, reliable road service. Tundra has introduced a new series of small, lightweight self-contained auxiliary airconditioning systems for trucks. The new Tundra systems provide an integrated solution for cooling and heating the sleeper compartment without running the truck’s diesel engine. The Tundra self-contained unit contains all system components on a single compact chassis, which can easily be placed under a bunk or in the bottom of a closet or cabinet. Discharge air is ducted to one or more air grills. The closed loop is precharged with refrigerant at the factory and requires no additional charging at installation. The self-contained air conditioning systems are offered in 7,000, 10,000 and 14,000 BTU capacities. The 10,000 and 14,000 BTU units have a built-in 2.0 or 2.5 KW heating strip. Tundra also offers a family of split systems in which the condenser and cooling fan are mounted externally. For more details, visit

Brake Mate is a brake and clutch applier for air and hydraulic brake systems which can assist a driver in checking brake adjustment, checking brake lights and checking air or hydraulic leaks. This can be difficult to do without a second person to apply the brakes while the driver does the checks. Brake Mate applies the proper PSI to all brake systems, which doesn’t happen when using only the parking brake or the trailer brake. A company can save its safety rating by supplying drivers with the right equipment to do a proper pre-trip and as a result vehicles will be better maintained.
