Yokohama Tire Introduces Ice Guard to Canadians

MONTREAL, Que. – This fall, Yokohama Tire Canada will introduce its new Ice Guard IG10 winter tires to the Canadian market.

Ice Guard technology provides advanced winter traction and changes the way tires handle winter driving thanks to an altered design.

Yokohama’s new technology maximizes traction by combining shelled microbubble technology and silica compound with Zeruma Agent.

This enhances the tire’s water absorbing power, helping the tread surface to stay solidly in contact with icy and snowy roads.

It absorbs water and breaks the microscopic water film between the tread and ice and snow surfaces. The tread pattern on the Ice Guard IG10 consists of five circumferential grooves with finer tread blocks that provide uniform contact pressure.

The new pattern uses micro diagonal grooves for the Ice Guard products to improve snow and ice traction and braking performance. The IG10 is available in 26 sizes ranging from 12 to 17 inches in 60, 65, 70 and 80 series aspect ratios.
