CTA calls on industry to help people of Fort McMurray

by Truck West

TORONTO, Ont. – The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) is calling on all its 4,500 members to help those affected by the devastating wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alta. by making a donation to the Canadian Red Cross, and is setting an example by contributing $12,000.

The CTA is also encouraging those wishing to make larger, corporate donations to visit redcross.ca, and those making smaller $5 contributions can text ‘REDCROSS’ to 30333.

“The people of Fort McMurray have supported Canadian prosperity for years, now it’s our turn to support them,” said CTA CEO David Bradley.

“We appreciate the effort from everyone across Canada,” added CTA and Alberta Motor Transport Association chairman Gene Orlick, who runs Orlicks Inc. out of Calgary. “It is a dire event and any help we can get is appreciated greatly.”

In the coming days, the CTA expects to hear from the Red Cross about how the trucking industry can assist with the situation, and will work with provincial associations and Trucks For Change Network to attempt to accomplish those tasks to the Fort McMurray region.
