Doucet to lead APTA board of directors
The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association announced its new board of directors during its annual general meeting and conference in Charlottetown last week.
The officers include chairwoman Maryse Doucet, Armour Transportation Systems; vice-chairman Rodney Weston, Shoreland Transport; treasurer Brian Easson, Eassons Transport; and past-chairman Trevor Bent, Eassons Transport.
AMJ Campbell vows to donate $2M to Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada
Moving company AMJ Campbell committed to a five-year pledge of donations to Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada amounting to a total of $2 million to protect vulnerable children in and out of foster care systems.
Each year in October, AMJ Campbell celebrates the October Move Month by donating $2 on every Home Delivery, $10 on every household move and $20 on Cross-border moves. Last year, the company donated $130,000 and this year the goal is to surpass $150,000.
TIP Group hires Bines as VP sales and marketing
Commercial trailer rental, leasing and solutions provider TIP Group announced that Larry Bines has joined the Canadian leadership team as vice-president sales and marketing.
He will be responsible for leading sales and marketing strategy and vision for the commercial team in Canada.
Bines brings more than 25 years of experience in transportation and supply chain and has played a role in building teams through a hands-on leadership approach.
Atlas World Group marks 75th anniversary
Moving company Atlas World Group celebrated its 75th year in business recently.
Jack Griffin, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group, said, “Atlas has seen its fair share of challenges, from the uncertainty in the 1970s and 1980s to today’s market insecurities. Our perseverance and outlook toward the future will keep us steady for the next 75 years and all the opportunities that come along the way.”
Since 2000, it has made major acquisitions, including Champion International Moving, Tophat Logistical Solutions, and Progressive Transportation. Atlas leaders attribute their success to a network of 400 agents, customers, a global family of 700 employees.
