668,000 TRUCKS REGISTERED IN 2000

OTTAWA, Ont. — Statistics Canada says that of the 17.9 million registered motor vehicles in Canada in 2000, almost 668,000 were truck tractors and trucks weighing at least 4,500 kgs.

There were also 4 million trailers in the country and 1.8 million off-road, construction and farm vehicles registered.

Buses totaled 77,500. There were also 311,500 motorcycles and mopeds in Canada as well.

The remaining 94 per cent, or 16.9 million vehicles, were passenger cars and light vehicles such as pickup trucks and minivans.
