Accuride upgrades Steel Armor wheel protection coating
Accuride Corporation announced enhancements to its Steel Armor wheel protection coating, with a focus on improving sharp edge protection through an updated epoxy e-coat layer, which is combined with a zinc phosphate surface preparation and a powder coat top layer.
The improved wheels began shipping from Accuride’s U.S. facility in Henderson, Ky. on July 14. Steel Armor wheels manufactured in Accuride’s Mexico plant in Monterrey will begin shipping Aug. 14, according to a news release.

“Accuride is proud of Steel Armor’s performance over the last decade. And we’re excited that we can offer a continuous improvement to our already excellent track record – at no cost to our customers,” said Craig Kessler, senior vice-president of engineering at Accuride, in the release.
All Accuride steel wheels in white, black, and gray come standard with enhanced Steel Armor wheel protection. Custom colors are supplied with standard powder coat, the company added.
