LOUISVILLE, Ky. — International Trucks has been named the official truck of the Kentucky Derby and Churchill Downs, which was announced this week at the historic racetrack.

Churchill Downs and Navistar have agreed to a two-year agreement.

“We’re proud to make International the official truck of the Kentucky Derby,” said David Johanneson, Navistar group vice-president of global sales, marketing and distribution. “The rich tradition of this great sporting event plus the proud heritage of the International brand, make this a strong combination.”

International vehicles, including its new LoneStar Class 8 tractor, will be on display at Churchill Downs throughout the week leading up to the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3. The truck company will profile its product at the spring and fall race meets, including International water trucks, which assist in maintenance of the racetrack between live races.

“We appreciate Navistar’s continued support for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby,” said Jim Gates, general manager of Churchill Downs. “Their products have been a great addition to our operation and are designed with the needs of the horse racing and breeding industry in mind.”

Churchill Downs, the world’s most legendary racetrack, has presented the Kentucky Derby, continuously since 1875. The track’s 2008 Spring Meet is set for April 26 through July 6. Navistar International Corporation produce: International brand commercial and military trucks, Maxx Force diesel engines, IC school and commercial buses, and Workhorse chassis for motor homes and step vans.
