ArvinMeritor wins US military contract

TROY, Mich. — ArvinMeritor has struck a deal with Texas-based Armor Holdings to provide front and rear drive axles with brakes, drivelines, antilock braking systems and transfer cases for 1,170 military vehicles.

The vehicles are the newest generation of armoured personnel carriers for the US military the Mine Resistance Ambush Protected vehicle.

Components supplied by ArvinMeritor include: its RF19-611 front drive steer axle with hydraulic braking; the RT40-611 rear drive tandem axle; and the T-218 integral transfer case.

The supplier has been providing the vehicle manufacturer with components since 1991.

Were pleased to be able to expand on this proven product application from the FMTV vehicle to be a part of the Armor Holdings MRAP vehicle, said Tim Bowes, ArvinMeritor general manager of Specialty Products.
