DIEPPE, N.B. — The Atlantic Institute of Logistics and Transportation (AILT) was launched recently at the New Brunswick Community College Dieppe Campus.

AILT is a bilingual organization that specializes in human resource development, applied research, innovation and the development of solutions to technological problems encountered by the transportation and logistics industry.

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is supporting the creation of the AILT by investing over $1 million.

"NBCC Dieppe has been offering logistics and transportation training programs since 1987, and our experience and relation with industry have shown us the importance of this sector of the economy for the Atlantic provinces," said NBCC Dieppe Principal Jean-Guy Richard.

The organization will work on developing industry-specific training programs. AILT will support Atlantic Canada logistics and transportation companies by helping them enhance their competitiveness and foster growth through technological innovation.

It will help improve human resource development through corporate training, distance learning as well as the promotion of this economic sector to the region’s residents, especially those living in rural areas.

The AILT is also committed to initiating international level projects and associating with national organizations.

AILT is located in the Lakeburn Training Centre at 42 Therrien St., Dieppe, N.B.
