Autocar will begin factory-installing Geotab GO devices in all internal combustion engine (ICE) trucks as part of a new strategic partnership with Geotab, the companies announced on April 2.

The agreement allows Autocar to embed Geotab’s telematics directly on its production line, eliminating the need for aftermarket installation and giving fleets immediate access to near real-time data once the vehicle hits the road.

“This collaboration with Geotab allows us to provide proactive monitoring of truck performance so that we can provide direct OEM support to our customers,” said Eric Schwartz, president of Autocar, in a release.

Geotab says its data will support Autocar’s in-house platforms, including its proprietary “Always Up” systems, by improving visibility into vehicle health, streamlining maintenance needs, and helping fleets reduce downtime. The company adds that fleets purchasing Autocar trucks will no longer need to retrofit vehicles with Geotab’s GO devices, as the connected hardware will come standard.

“In today’s competitive landscape, easy access to high-quality data is essential. That is why Geotab is committed to removing barriers and delivering the insights fleets need to operate smarter, safer, and more efficiently,” said James McDermott, senior solution partnerships manager at Geotab. “This partnership with Autocar is a powerful step forward. By equipping every Autocar truck with Geotab’s industry-leading telematics, we’re ensuring fleet operators have easy access to the critical data they need to maximize uptime and performance.”
