PENTICTON, B.C. — Volvo Trucks and the B.C. Trucking Association (BCTA) crowned the 2000 Driver-of-the-Year last weekend at the annual BCTA Conference.

Robin Ross, Volvo Trucks’ western regional manager, was on hand to make the presentation to Dale Simmons, who hauls for J. Munden Transport.

"In his time behind the wheel, he has amassed 1.6 million accident-free, injury-free miles," Ross said in his presentation speech. "His employer describes his professional conduct in breath-taking and glowing terms, and rates him as the most outstanding driver of his acquaintance."

Simmons was born in Edmonton, Alta., but now lives in Kamloops, B.C.
