BATON ROUGE, La. — Trucks weighing more than 26,000lb will continue to enjoy the pleasures of being exempt from sales and use tax in the state of Louisiana.

A June issue of TRALA Weekly Wire reports House Bill 40 exempts trucks and trailers from sales and use taxes if at least 80 per cent of the vehicle’s use involves interstate commerce.

A pre-existing exemption from sales and use taxes was set to expire on July 1. The new law extends the exemption to July 1, 2004.
