Bendix releases fleet value calculator for advanced braking systems

ELRYIA, Ohio — Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has introduced a customized tool to help fleets determine the value of investing in advanced braking and stability systems.

It’s a fleet value calculator which uses a complex formula taking into consideration factors such as the cost, frequency and effect an advanced braking system could have on an individual fleet. The tool provides a payback number offering a cost-per-mile savings which can help fleets decide if such a system is worth the investment.

“Each fleet has a unique value equation based on the frequency, type and cost of incidents they are experiencing and the effectiveness of the system they are considering or select,” said Kevin Romanchok, electronics product line director at Bendix. “This tool helps the business capture and analyze their data to make a sound decision.”

Bendix says rollovers cost an average of US$120,000 each and there are 15,000 rollovers in the U.S. each year. The fleet value calculator considers factors that contribute to the cost of rollovers, jackknifes and loss of control incidents. Other factors taken into account include driver experience, typical routes and traffic, driving conditions and speed.

The calculator is available by calling 1-800-247-2725 or through Bendix account managers.
