WAYNE, N.J. — BP Lubricants USA is planning to launch the re-engineered formulation of Castrol Tection Extra. Scheduled for release in January, Tection Extra exceeds the new CJ-4 specifications and 2007 OEM lubricants requirements, company officials say.

Castrol Tection Extra has been reformulated to better manage damaging soot through technology that boosts dispersion and exceeds the API Cummins ISM CJ-4 specifications for soot-related wear, Castrol officials said. Even after doubling the stringent Cummins ISM testing duration from 200 to 400 hours, Castrol Tection Extra still demonstrated wear levels below that of the original 200 hour CJ-4 limits, the company said.

The re-engineered Tection Extra is a direct result of Castrols commitment to exceed the OEM specifications for new 2007 engines while providing a superior formula for our customers with pre-2007 engines, said Page Gray, Castrol brand manager. Castrol will continue to be an industry leader by surpassing industry standards.
