Calgary’s Race City to host Big Rig Weekend

CALGARY, Alta. — The second annual Big Rig Weekend will be held this weekend at Race City Motorsport Park in Calgary, Alta.

The event will feature a big rig show’n’shine, super truck drag races as well as big rig oval racing. Last year’s inaugural event was held at Bud Park in Edmonton.

The big rig drag racing will be held Saturday night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will feature super truck drags, street rigs and exhibition cars and trucks. On Sunday afternoon from 1 pm. to 4 p.m. the big rigs will take to the mile high-banked oval to compete.

The show’n’shine will feature 34 trophies for winners in 13 different categories. Door prizes such as a set of six Alcoa Dura-Brite aluminum wheels will also be up for grabs.

On-site camping is available and a weekend pass is $30. Admission on Saturday is $12 and on Sunday, $20. Children between five and 12 years of age can get in for $2 and kids under five get in free. For more information, contact Donna at 604-583-1253.
