CarriersEdge adds cybersecurity course

by Today's Trucking

CarriersEdge is offering a new online course to help drivers and office staff better understand how to protect personal and company information from cyberattacks.

Cybersecurity: Protecting Your Data explains the methods hackers use to trick people into giving up classified information; potential consequences of data breaches; and ways to minimize the risks of a cyberattack happening in the first place.

It also meets the cybersecurity component of the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program.

There has been an uptick in reported data breaches during Covid-19, as cybercriminals target poorly secured home routers, CarriersEdge adds. Malware and social engineering techniques are also being used to convince people to open files or share information that can lead to a data breach.

The course’s four half-hour modules leverage text, images, interactive exercises, and real-life examples. Carriers can use incorporated quizzes and a final test to maintain records of the training, too.

Learning outcomes include describing a cyberattack, identifying where data can be found, understanding how a digital footprint can be used by cybercriminals, and identifying common tactics used by cybercriminals. Those who complete the course will also be able to identify best practices for cybersecurity, and list the steps to take if cybersecurity is at risk.
