CarriersEdge launches business course for new owner-operators
CarriersEdge has introduced a training course, Owner Operator Business Skills, designed to help company drivers transition into successful owner-operators and support those who have recently started their own trucking businesses.
The course is included at no additional cost for CarriersEdge subscribers and is also available for individual purchase through the company’s website.

It covers aspects of running a trucking business, including selecting and financing equipment, navigating compliance requirements, managing maintenance, and understanding risks such as freight fraud and cybersecurity. CarriersEdge says it developed the material by consulting successful owner-operators, fleet management teams, and industry experts, supplemented by its own research.
Upon completing the course, CarriersEdge says participants will gain the skills to prepare a business plan and budget, calculate and minimize expenses, and address common challenges faced by new owner-operators.
“What we’ve found is that while many fleets work with independent contractors or offer lease-purchase programs, there is a lack of resources available in the industry for these fleets to help educate drivers,” said Jane Jazrawy, CarriersEdge chief executive officer, in a news release. “Unfortunately, many new owner-operators see their business fail, often due to business management and planning challenges. This course helps fill that void by providing company drivers and owner-operators with essential information.”
