LAREDO, Texas — Global Vehicle Technologies (GVT) has partnered with Caterpillar Logistics Services (CLS) to improve its ability to get its components to customers faster and more efficiently.

GVT manufactures fluid and motion controls for heavy-duty truck OEMs. The company says by teaming up with CLS at its Laredo, Texas distribution center, it will be able to get its products from manufacturing sites in Europe and Mexico to its North American customers much more quickly.

We are able to greatly improve our overall distribution process and streamline our supply chain, said Mike Bozich, GVT president and CEO. We are able to handle orders more quickly and efficiently. And by following a first-in, first-out inventory program, our customers receive the latest products.

The CLS distribution center in Laredo is a 300,000-sq.-ft., two-building facility providing inbound and outbound logistics services.

The most significant benefit will be recognized by customers that previously received products from multiple shipping points, Bozich said. Several major customers look to benefit from having a single shipping point located on the NAFTA highway, as part of their existing milk run for components sourced from Mexico or the Port of Houston.
