PEORIA, Ill. — Caterpillar has launched a new emissions-control technology which it says meets future U.S. clean air requirements while also lowering operating costs.

Caterpillar has given the name Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology (ACERT) to the technology. ACERT combines advancements in fuel-systems and engine combustion, the company says.

The result “reduces emissions, while maintaining engine performance and reliability,” says Caterpillar.

It believes ACERT is “the most effective and cost efficient solution for our truck engine customers,” adding that “the transition to ACERT engines will be almost transparent to customers.”
