CIFFA takes freight forwarding training global

by Today's Trucking

The Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) has created a new educational arm geared towards freight forwarding organizations and students outside of Canada.

TraversEd builds on CIFFA’s 40-year history of educating Canadians in freight forwarding and logistics, but is aimed at those who live elsewhere.

Training is provided online and on-demand, or instructor-led through a partner college or university. Online courses allow students to learn at their own pace from anywhere in the world. The online courses are suited for freight forwarding companies to offer as initial training to new employees, while global networks can offer the courses to their members.

Instructor-led training provides specific education on the competencies sought by freight forwarders. The post-secondary courses can be integrated into new or existing international business courses, CIFFA says.

TraversEd’s partnership approach provides e-textbooks, instructor guides, course syllabus, slides, online examinations, online lessons, and support for instructors.

The core offering is the TraversEd Global Trade Certificate (TGT), which includes completion of one to three levels in the following courses: International Transportation and Trade – Level 1 or 2; Essentials of Freight Forwarding – Level 1 or 2; and Advanced Freight Services – Level 3.

TraversEd and CIFFA currently partner with 16 college institutions in Canada, and multiple freight forwarding networks including Globalia Logistics network, RW Solutions, the Cooperative logistics networks, and Conquerer freight network. CIFFA announced TraversEd will now begin partnering with U.S. and international academic institutions, associations and corporations – providing custom education and training solutions that are easily integrated to meet learner goals.
