ATLANTA, Ga. — Coca-Cola has placed an order for 185 hybrid-electric delivery trucks, making it the largest hybrid truck fleet in North America, according to the company.

The new order brings the total number of hybrid trucks in the fleet to 327. Most of them are 12-bay box trucks with a GVW of 33,000 lbs. The latest order includes a larger hybrid tractor with a GVW of 55,000 lbs, according to the company.

Coca-Cola says its hybrids use 30% less fuel and also reduce emissions by 30%. The Kenworth trucks use Eaton’s hybrid system and Cummins engines.

The hybrid trucks in Coca-Cola’s fleet have been deployed throughout North America, specifically in Toronto and Vancouver here in Canada. Montreal is also slated to receive the larger 12-bay hybrids.
