GREENSBORO, N.C. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given the go-ahead for Volvo to manufacture and sell trucks with the VED12 diesel engine.

The agency has issued Volvo a conditional certificate and will complete certification once the formal review process is finished.

The new Volvo VN series of trucks are designed to be fully integrated with EPA02-compliant engines. Testing shows that in certain applications, operators will experience only a 0-2 per cent decrease in fuel economy while using the new engines.
