Continental back-up sensors sound the alarms
Continental’s ultrasonic back-up sensor kit is ready to retrofit on virtually any vehicle combination, including commercial vehicles and off-highway units.
The unit offers an audible alarm when a vehicle comes within 10 feet of an object, and beeps faster as the driver gets closer to the obstacle. OEMs could also customize the system for specific distance intervals, Continental adds.
The warnings involve more than beeps. A voice announcement warns about object distances at specific intervals, and it can be integrated into on-board cameras and monitoring systems. When paired with a backup camera system, for example, an overlay will reveal the active sensors and the distances from the sensors.
The kits come with four sensors, a central control unit and speakers. Continental also offers cameras and monitors.
