Daimler confirms $9K emissions surcharge for trucks with 2010 Cummins ISX engines
PORTLAND, Ore. — Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) has announced its trucks equipped with EPA2010-compliant Cummins ISX15 engines will come with a $9,000 emissions surcharge.
The surcharge is identical to the one DTNA will charge for trucks with its own heavy-duty Detroit Diesel engines. Both Detroit Diesel and Cummins will use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment systems to reduce NOx to EPA-mandated limits.
Daimler says the surcharges reflect costs associated with adding SCR, but will be offset by fuel economy improvements compared to 07 engines.
