KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Dana Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Systems has announced expanded ratio coverage for one of its newest families of single drive axles.

The new Dana Spicer S190 series is now available with a 2.53 ratio, the fastest axle ratio for a single reduction drive axle produced for the North American trucking industry.

The 2.53 ratio option for the S190 axle was designed by Dana to maximize fuel efficiency with the newer generation of emissions-friendly engines that operate best at lower RPMs.

“Fleets continue to demand the best integration of drivetrain components to increase fuel economy and optimize performance,” said Patxi Garcia, product manager, drive axles, for Dana’s Commercial Vehicle Systems. “Our new axles, when specified with Eaton Corporation’s lineup of direct drive Fuller transmissions, help fleets accomplish that by enabling trucks to maintain highway speeds at low engine RPMs.”

Garcia added that in order to meet the needs of a variety of vehicle configurations, the S190 series drive axle is available with 22 different ratios – the widest offering in the industry. Customers may now choose between ratios ranging from 2.53 to 7.83, allowing flexible specifying options with one of the industry’s leading axle designs.
