Device senses driver drowsiness, distraction

by Today's Trucking

Cipia, once known as Eyesight Technologies, has unveiled the Fleet Sense driver monitoring system.

The tool powered by artificial intelligence issues real-time safety alerts to drivers, and customized alerts to dispatchers and fleet managers, if it detects signs of fatigue or distraction.

Drivers are monitored with the combination of a camera and infrared sensor.

The gathered data can also support driver scoring and training systems, the company adds.

Cipia says it uses “cloud middleware” to quickly integrate with existing fleet management systems, which means the system can be running and integrated within a week.
