Drivers can control Mack OTA updates

by Today's Trucking

Driver-activated Mack Over the Air (OTA) updates are now standard fare on all new Anthem, Pinnacle, and Granite models.

Retrofits for 2019 Model Year and newer models are also available, using the Mack Premium Tech Tool.

The service is free for the first two years of ownership and can be extended as a subscription service after that.

Mack has been offering remote programming since 2017, making it possible to update software and vehicle parameters using the Mack GuardDog Connect telematics platform. But with the latest enhancements drivers no longer need to coordinate phone calls with Mack OneCall agents, although the agents are still available for support if needed.

Updates are completed in less than 13 minutes.

Vehicle owners can clear drivers to complete such updates through the instrument cluster, or designated technicians who would use a password.

Programmable parameters include maximum road speed, idle shutdowns, and Mack mDrive automated manual transmissions.
