Eaton is now offering Advantage automated series clutch and Cummins flywheel kits for the Eaton-Cummins Endurant automated manual transmission.

For the first time, both components will be sold together in a single kit, streamlining replacement for fleet operators.

The flywheel serves as the connection point between the engine and clutch, bolted to the engine and spinning during operation. The clutch cover, attached to the flywheel, also rotates while the clutch’s driven disc engages with the flywheel. Over time, this friction can lead to wear, Eaton said in a news release.

“Today’s manufacturers recommend that flywheels should be replaced, rather than the previous practice of resurfacing worn flywheels,” said Leandro Girardi, director of aftermarket at Eaton’s Mobility Group, in a release. “This ensures the flywheel fits correctly to engage with the clutch and prevents fault codes, excessive wear, and vibrations.”

Girardi added that replacing the clutch and flywheel at the same time has several benefits, including saving time, labor, and eliminating the possibility of one of the components wearing out before the other

“It also ensures optimal vehicle performance and protects against driveline wear,” he said.
