ESSO XD-3 FOR 2007

Imperial Oil has announced Esso XD-3 Extra CJ-4 15W-40 heavy-duty engine oil, available in October 2006 to meet the American Petroleum Institute’s API CJ-4 specification to accommodate 2007 diesels. It meets the requirements of all engine-maker tests — Caterpillar ECF-3, Cummins,
CES 20081, Detroit Diesel Power Guard 93K214, Volvo VDS-4 and Mack EO-O Premium Plus.

Imperial says the new lube will exceed category requirements for soot control, wear protection, oil consumption and deposit control. The new formulation will be backwards compatible and meet the requirements of API CI-4 and CI-4 PLUS as well. It adds the claim that the CJ-4 oil will deliver “significant performance enhancement, helping to extend the life of both new and older engines, as well as new emissions aftertreatment systems.”
