Fleetguard introduces air breather desiccant filter
Fleetguard, a brand of Atmus Filtration Technologies, launched a air breather desiccant filter aimed at protecting bulk fluid storage tanks from moisture and contamination.
The filter, composed of silica gel beads, polyurethane foam, and high-efficiency media, is designed to capture harmful moisture and debris that can enter fluid tanks as air flows in and out during system operation. Fleetguard said in a news release that operators can reduce equipment downtime, lower operating costs, and extend fluid life by replacing standard vents and filters with desiccant breathers.
The breathers, available in standard and extended-life versions, feature dual-phase microglass filtration media that offers dirt-holding capabilities and low-pressure drop for small to large storage tanks.
All air breathers are available with optional check valves, providing greater protection while simultaneously extending breather life. Extended-life breathers are offered with optional inflow-only check valves, typically needed for larger reservoirs that are part of an active system and require higher airflow. This valve type requires the use of a flow adaptor to provide outward flow.
A sizing tool is available on the Fleetguard website to help customers determine the appropriate desiccant air breather for their specific systems based on factors such as reservoir size, maximum airflow rate, and humidity levels.
