Fontaine Modification offering dual-drive conversions on Kenworth MD trucks

by Today's Trucking

Fontaine Modification has announced it can now modify Kenworth medium-duty conventional trucks for sit-down dual-drive configurations.

It already did so for the K370 cabover model, and now adds the capability for the T180, T280, T380, and T480 models. The modification adds a right-hand drive station to the vehicle, so drivers can operate it from either side, ideal for refuse, street sweeping and road striping applications.

“A lot of engineering work goes into developing a sit-down dual drive conversion that not only maintains the excellent ergonomics of the OEM position but also properly relocates collision mitigation systems, HVAC and other equipment,” said Jamil Young, president, Fontaine Modification Medium & Heavy Truck Operations. “We’re proud to have put our decades of experience and engineering expertise to work in developing this modification for the vocations that need a right-hand drive option.”

Fontaine’s new Kenworth Premium Sit-Down Dual Drive modification is designed to make the right-hand driving position virtually identical to the original left-side position so drivers can operate with equal comfort and efficiency no matter where they are sitting. Fontaine performs the conversion at its Chillicothe, Ohio, modification center.
