Former Audi engineer styles BYD electric trucks

BYD turned to Wolfgang Josef Egger, a former Audi chief designer, to style the cabs for the new Gen3 8TT and 6F battery-electric trucks.

The Class 8 Gen 3 8TT can perform drayage, regional-haul, and distribution week, while its counterpart the 6F Class 6 vehicle is ready for regional haul and distribution assignments, the OEM says. The latter can also be equipped with a refuse body.

The trucks feature a CCS1 charging capability of up to 185 kW, with extended-range versions traveling more than 300 km between charges.

Other features include an advanced driver assistance system, electronic parking brake, keyless entry and push-to-start functions.

BYD has about 200 battery-electric trucks deployed in the U.S.
