Freightliner announces 2007 pricing (March 28, 2006)
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Freightliner is the latest truck manufacturer to announce its 2007 pricing plans, citing an upcharge of US$4,500-$6,000 on medium-duty trucks and US$7,000-$10,000 for heavy-duty tractors.
Freightliner president and CEO Chris Patterson made the announcement at the Mid-America Trucking Show. The upcharges announced apply to Freightliner trucks equipped with Detroit Diesel and MBE-Series engines.
“We have been hard at work trying to identify ways to minimize the cost implications for our customers and we will continue to do so right up until these engines hit the market next winter,” Patterson said.
He added Freightliner enjoys the advantage of sharing development costs and experiences with sister company Detroit Diesel.
“Let me emphasize that having a proprietary engine supplier has many advantages including optimized engine performance and installation cost. It’s also an advantage when it comes to keeping a lid on price increases,” said Patterson.
