PORTLAND, Ore. — Freightliner Classic XL, Classic and FLD SD trucks with 70-inch mid- and raised-roof sleeper cabs now come with standard under bunk storage compartments, the company has announced.

Other models including the Century Class S/T, Columbia and Coronado have featured the storage compartment as a standard spec’ since 2003.

The compartment features removable partitions that can be used to arrange and separate items. The compartment is easy to open and close, the company says, thanks to a center-mounted rattle-free latch. It also features a low heat/low current lamp.

“Convenience and user-friendly features are essential elements in helping to improve driver productivity,” said Alex Bernasconi, vice-president of sales, Freightliner Trucks. “The under bunk storage compartment gives drivers more space to stow personal items or equipment, making their work environment more organized and comfortable.”
