RICHMOND, Va. — Freightliner Trucks is now supplying Tundra refrigerators as optional factory-installed original equipment for sleeper compartments on new trucks for 2004-2005.

The Tundra refrigerators will also be sold in the aftermarket through Freightliner Trucks dealers nationwide. They are being supplied by Dometic Corporation.

Freightliner Trucks’ selection of Tundra followed a rigorous series of tests by Freightliner engineers to ensure that the refrigerators met their stringent requirements for ruggedness and reliability, said Lou Siegel, vice president, sales and marketing, for Dometic’s Environmental Systems group.

The Tundra units are designed to operate under the harshest environmental conditions. The steel exterior has a durable protective coating, and the interior is made of high-impact polystyrene for low maintenance and easy cleaning. The quiet, dependable Danfoss compressor runs on environmentally friendly R134A refrigerant. The unique Tundra design utilizes a dynamically cooled condensing system that circulates air across the condenser to provide more efficient heat transfer and avoid failures caused by overheated compressors.

"Most importantly, Tundra refrigerators are designed to stay consistently cold inside, even under high outside temperatures," said Siegel.

Freightliner Trucks is offering the Tundra refrigerators in 1.8 and 2.2 cu.ft. sizes with an interior freezer compartment.
