GoClaws offer alternative to tire chains

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Flex-Trax has introduced a new product that helps remove tractor-trailers from heavy snow, mud or sand.

GoClaws can be put on a truck’s tires in a few minutes, the company says, without moving or jacking up the vehicle even while stuck. It’s especially effective in off-highway applications.

“GoClaws is the culmination of many years of design and development by Flex- Trax. The traction advancement is based on proven techniques of mechanical engineering, physics, material handling, and hydraulics. This advanced engineering design, coupled with the use of revolutionary Duratanium, the very best high-performance injection-molded material available, produces an extremely tough product,” said Mike Stollings, president of Flex-Trax. He added that the product also features dual zinc-coated steel fastener pins and carries a limited lifetime warranty.

The GoClaw is available in three sizes and includes six adjustable, interchangeable modules providing traction for two ties. Stollings insists they are easier and faster to install than traditional chains and they are also self-cleaning, with chambers that eject accumulations of debris. They also stay centered on the tires and self-tension to provide continuous tightening.

GoClaws can be purchased online at www.goclaws.com and they cost up to US$349.95. In Canada, however, they can also be purchased exclusively at Canadian Tire under the name SnoClaws.
