STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Haldex Foundation Brakes has inked a development deal with Scania to provide air disc brakes for the company’s heavy-duty vehicles.

It’s a customer-specific program that will involve field test activities aimed at deliveries for 2006.

The deal covers the new ModulX series of Haldex disc brakes which are specifically designed for heavy-duty applications. The deal follows an earlier deal between Haldex and Volvo/Renault, and Haldex officials say the deals confirm the company’s capability to be a strong provider of air disc brakes within the trucking industry.

Preparations to increase disc brake production at Haldex’s Landskrona factory are already underway, the company says.
