PRATTVILLE, Ala. — Haldex has announced it is restructuring its Friction Products business unit, outsourcing production to suppliers with facilities in low-cost countries.

The company said it has implemented a quality assurance program to ensure the quality is not impacted. It says the move will reduce production costs for its lining products for disc and drum brakes. Currently, production of these components takes place at the company’s Prattville, Alabama plant.

Haldex’s lining products for drum brakes are sold mainly to the North American aftermarket while its disc brake lining products are sold to EOMs. The company’s sales organization will continue to provide sales and technical support for friction products. Production will be relocated to sub-suppliers beginning in the first quarter of 2008, the company announced.
