Hendrickson Watchman watches trailer wheel ends

Hendrickson is launching Watchman wheel-end sensors for trailers that run on a vehicle area network developed by Sensata Technologies.

Initially offering data about trailer tire pressures and wheel-end temperatures, the details will be communicated through the trailer telematics system using the J1939 protocol.

The battery-powered wheel end sensors, which mount on the hubcap, transmit wireless RF signals to a gateway module that acts as the trailer’s communications hub, the company says. From there, the data is transmitted to the trailer telematics device which transmits details to a fleet’s back office.

Watchman will be an option on Hendrickson’s Tiremaax Pro and Pro-LB tire pressure control systems beginning in early 2022.
