Hino Canada president rocks & rolls back to Tokyo

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Hino Motors Canada President Hiroyuki Omori is moving back to Japan to take on a new assignment with Hino Motors Ltd. in Tokyo.

He is succeeded by Shin Nakamura, who took over this week.

“Living in Canada and working with Hino Motors Canada for the past five and a half years has been a challenging and rewarding experience for me both professionally and personally,” he said.

Omori was arguably one of the most animated and interpersonal trucking CEOs around. At a dealer gathering at the truckmaker’s new Woodstock, Ont. digs last summer, Omori delighted staff and trucking journalists by joining the four-piece rock band for-hire with an Ibanez six-string electric guitar.

Clad in black pants, shades and black shirt, Omori paid homage to Hendrix, earning what Today’s Trucking pronounced at the time: “Coolest Truck OEM President On the Planet.”

Shin Nakamura has a lot to live up to.
