Hino lining up new medium duty models

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Hino Motors Canada will release its newly re-designed 2011 medium duty truck line up in several weeks.

In September, the company will roll out its 2011 line up, which features driver comfort, efficiency, safety and technological enhancements.

The company says new chassis configurations and power improvements will open up new market opportunities for Hino.

"The launch of these new trucks is a milestone for Hino," says Eric Smith, National Sales manager. "The trucks have been redesigned virtually from the ground, up."

Improvements include a new hood and front grille, a new driver’s seat armrest, a Bluetooth-enabled GPS stereo and a new easy to read driver information display.

The 2011 Hino models 268, 338 and 358 will utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to fully comply with 2010EPA emissions requirements.

Like other manufacturers marketing SCR engines, Hino expects a fuel consumption reduction of up to 5 percent from previous engines.

A ‘clean chassis’ option will be available for all three trucks (which will be built at Hino’s Canadian assembly plant in Woodstock, Ont.).

By transferring parts previously mounted on the outside of the frame rails behind the cab, this configuration will be ideal for beverage bodies, car carrier configurations and other applications, the company says.
