INTERNATIONAL LOADSTAR

Navistar unveiled the International LoadStar at Mid-America, a lightweight low cab-over engine (LCOE) work truck. Designed from the ground up with input from drivers and fleet managers, the LoadStar was built for the waste, concrete pumping and airplane refueling markets.

Features include a stainless-steel cab to minimize corrosion and increase durability; variable-depth frame rails; “ergonomically designed” cab interior, including “excellent” control placement; Diamond Logic multiplexed electrical system with capabilities that provide seamless body integration for increased safety and ease of operation; an optional natural gas version in early 2013

Navistar says it optimized cab space, increased seat and steering wheel movement, and adjusted joystick placement to deliver a comfortable, customizable work environment.

The industry’s first stainless-steel cabover design, it offers a standard tilt/telescoping steering column and 10-in. fore/aft and 6.5-in. up/down seat travel, providing what Navistar calls “unprecedented” belly room.  A wide 90-degree door opening and easy 18-in. first step height were also included to provide drivers with maximum comfort. You’ll also get up to 40-degree wheel cuts.

LoadStar features Navistar’s Diamond Logic system, which helps decrease downtime and improves productivity by enabling control of and communication between vehicle components and body equipment. The system increases safety and optimizes maintenance, the company says.

The truck will available with 10-, 11- or 13-litre MaxxForce engines, and a Cummins Westport ISL-G compressed natural gas engine will be available in spring 2013. First orders will be taken in October.
