KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kenworth Truck Company has produced a free guide to assist fleets and O/Os interested in finding ways to improve fuel economy.

Kenworth’s “Push Less Air Pull More Profit” guide emphasizes the importance of spec’ing for enhanced aerodynamics and fuel economy. The new four-page guide’s spec’ing tips include the use of full roof and chassis fairings, side extenders, and under hood air cleaners, in addition to ensuring optimal trailer gap for fuel economy through careful selection of wheelbase and fifth wheel settings. The Kenworth guide, which features an illustrated format, also offers driver tips and proper maintenance steps to help increase fuel economy and enhance the bottom line.

Kenworth officials said they are continuing to pursue even greater fuel efficiency through aerodynamic enhancements achieved through a combination of highway, test track and wind tunnel testing, and computational fluid dynamics. Kenworth’s aerodynamic models include the standard-cab T600 and the wide-cab T2000 model designed especially for team drivers.

Kenworth’s “Push Less Air Pull More Profit” guide is available as a .pdf file for electronic download and printing from Kenworth’s home page at www.kenworth.com.
