KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kenworth has announced Caterpillar C15 high horsepower engines will now be available for order on W900L model trucks.

The Cat C15 will be available in 600- and 625-horsepower ratings, and it’s expected to be a popular choice among owner/operators and heavy haulers.

"Kenworth is pleased to offer the new Caterpillar C15 high-horsepower engine in our Kenworth W900L model to help provide the power needed by customers to get the job done," said Steve Gilligan, Kenworths general marketing manager. "Owner/operators and heavy haulers will especially be interested in these new Caterpillars products available this fall."

The 625-hp C15 provides 2,050 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,200 RPM and constant torque to 1,500 RPM. The engine features new pistons and injectors for higher flow series turbochargers as well as the next generation of Cat’s electronic control module which is four times faster with twice the memory than the previous C15 ECM.

"Kenworth is also offering an optional Caterpillar compression brake, which is the only compression brake available for these engines," added Gilligan. The Cat compression brake provides 600 retarding horsepower.
