KW FRONT SUSPENSION

The new Kenworth AG130 front air suspension for class 8 vehicles is now available for order. It’s a “next generation” proprietary suspension that’s disc-brake compatible, available in 12,000 and 13,200-lb ratings for Kenworth T660, T800 and T2000 models. The AG130 features a unique four-bag configuration, which allow the suspension to resist the high input torque encountered with disc brakes.

Those four air bags handle 75% of the vertical load while a lower leaf spring handles the rest. This design reduces vibration into the cab and onto the chassis to help provide a smooth ride without sacrificing the feel of the road, says Kenworth.

Other features include low-maintenance bushings, a single valve to control both levelling and height adjustment, and simpler maintenance with easy access through an air spring retention clip for quick airbag replacement. Kenworth says the AG130 is also lighter by 20 lb compared to traditional 12,000-lb taperleaf front-end suspensions. An added bonus is that it retrofits onto earlier model Kenworth T660, T800 and T2000 chassis.
