LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kenworth Truck Company is using this year’s Mid-America Trucking Show to showcase its new W900L conventional concept vehicle.

Developed in collaboration with leading designer Bruce Canepa, the premium unit sports unique external and interior styling the company says will eventually make it an excellent owner/operator or company driver reward truck.

“I wanted to build a true custom truck that takes the heritage of the Kenworth W900L to the next level,” says Canepa, who has designed numerous concept tractor/trailers and transporters for major racing teams and major corporations. “This truck is about attention to detail.”

The W900L concept tractor’s exterior features a custom, two-toned paint scheme of midnight black over millennium silver trim. The custom Panelite Millennium LED Lighting Package, coupled with “wide-mounted” fuel tanks and rear-mounted polished toolboxes, create a sense of linear continuity from front to rear, accroding to Canepa.

“Bruce is one of the world’s leading designers,” says Ed Caudill, Kenworth general manager and PACCAR vice-president. “He’s done a great job in significantly enhancing the appeal of the W900L, which many drivers already consider to be the industry’s most classic and traditional heavy-duty truck.”

Kenworth and Canepa worked with Alcoa to create a new set of customized wheels sporting kidney bean-shaped cutouts. The team also collaborated with Hendrickson Stamping to create a custom 18″ Texas Square bumper complete with a destinctive “Kenworth” script.

On the inside, specially designed, premium 20-inch leather seats with custom fabric inserts, along with a matching sofa bed with leather armrests, create a high level of classic style. A luxury carpet mat set with special “limited” identification for both the cab and sleeper is included.

Other Kenworth W900L concept truck specs include, aerodynamic fender mounted turn signals and marker lights; six-inch diameter exhaust stacks and lower elbows; aerodynamic KAM 4WAY electric, heated mirrors; wide profile mounted fuel tanks; full cover tandem axle polished stainless steel fender assembles; driftwood interior trim package and a genuine wood gearshift knob with chrome plated base housing.
